To make your coloured ice cubes
1. Fill the ice cube tray/trays with water.
2. Add a few drops of food colouring to the water, using a different colour for each segment of the tray.
3. Put the ice cube tray/trays into the freezer to freeze the coloured water.
4. Once the coloured ice cubes have frozen, pop them out and tip them into a big bowl or plastic container to play with outside, or tip them straight into the bath or onto your little one's highchair tray.
You can also fill up the plastic container or bowl with more water and watch as the cubes begin to dissolve.
With perhaps a little help from you, kids will have lots of fun making their own recycled robots with items you're recycling or already have around the house. Making recycled robots teaches kids about recycling every day items and giving them another purpose, instead of just throwing them away. It is also a great activity for using their imagination, concentration and problem solving skills.
Kids will have fun making their own garden fairies, especially over summer when plants are in full bloom. Teach them the names of the flowers that you use, discuss the different shades of colour and how plants grow.
